ZATCA e-Invoicing in Saudi Arabia: What Your POS Must Do
If you sell in Saudi Arabia, your invoices fall under ZATCA (Fatoora) e-invoicing. Here's what that means for your point-of-sale in plain terms.
Two invoice types
A Standard Tax Invoice is for B2B — it carries the buyer's VAT number and address. A Simplified Tax Invoice is for retail/B2C (your normal POS receipt) and must show a scannable QR code.
What the QR code contains
The QR encodes five mandatory fields: seller name, VAT registration number, invoice timestamp, invoice total, and VAT total. A customer or auditor scans it to verify the invoice.
Phase 1 vs Phase 2
Phase 1 ("Generation") means producing a compliant bilingual Arabic/English invoice with the QR — this you can do today. Phase 2 ("Integration") adds a cryptographic stamp and real-time clearance/reporting to ZATCA, which requires onboarding with your credentials.
How Tracvio helps
